Sun Kyong Lee
Sun Kyong Lee, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor in School of Media & Communication. Her research examines sociocultural antecedents of information and communication technologies usage and their consequences and implications. She studies mobile and social media, and artificial-intelligence-based virtual assistants and social robots. Recently, Sun Kyong has been conducting experiments on how trust is formed in human-machine communication, and how trust is repaired when machines fail and try to recover the error. Sun Kyong has also been studying various ethnic and religious immigrant community networks in their associations with intercultural development and bicultural orientation. She has studied Korean Christian immigrants in the US, Vietnamese Buddhist temple communities, Muslim immigrants, and Hispanic immigrants. Sun Kyong graduated from Korea University, Department of Journalism & Mass Communication, with BA and MA. She also earned another MA from the University of Kansas, Communication Studies, and PhD in Communication and Information from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey.
